The Apex 37 was totally redesigned for its 2011 release. We wanted a board that you could build your quiver around and still come back to as a staple 3 years later. Emphasis was placed on developing technologies that would create a board that had more strength, more durability and better performance than its predecessors. Sporting such radical design upgrades as Quad-axial custom angled fiberglass, Forged Carbon inlays, and hard freeriding rails, the new Apex 37 Carbon is truly the pinnacle of longboard technology. Get this board if your into freeriding and carving, and pretty much and all around board! The Carbon Fiber strip going down in the middle makes the board super durable! The "material" it's made up of is a lot better than the bamboo crap that Loaded has for their boards! The hard rails make it terrific for freeriding, it really locks your foot in! The nose and tail is also longer than the old one which makes it a lot easier for freestyle tricks such as bigspins, shuvits, tigerclaws, 360 shuvits, etc.Incase you don't like the spring loaded trucks (in my opinion they're awesome), Original now offers bushing trucks, i.e. randalls, bears, and soon paris! If your board does start getting some splits in it, just take clamps and clamp it back together! If that's not working, put some woodglue in the split and clamp it. If none of those work, email or call up Original for the 6 month warranty. Get yourself an Original, you won't regret it! More... Most notable impressions;-Im 5'7 and I found the board to be a tad on the short side, not a big deal I just like longer boards more of a personal preference (I like the stability found in the longer boards) -Im not certain the bearings that ship with the board are of the best quality, but that's tough to call since they dont say what kind the board ships with (or it could be they just need cleaning) -The board is SUPER agile and it's hard to get adjusted to at first, but eventually you can make long carving turns and comfortably cruise. -I like the fact that it's so light - it makes it easier to carry and yet it still feels real solid with aggressive riding. The only issue I can see is for the beginner riders who aren't used to longboard skatboarding at all or have very limited experience... This board is amazing. I'd wanted to buy my own longboard for a while ever since my friends introduced me to the sport. I learned how to ride using my friend's collections. I tried shorter boards (34 inches) and longer ones (47 inches). i loved the stability of the longer boards but preferred the quick turns of the smaller ones. This board has been able to provide me with both of those things. It's stable and yet very responsive (i love original trucks). I got it because i wanted a versatile board and it truly is. Even though it lacks kicks, i have no trouble learning new tricks on this board. Having the trucks set closer to the center of the deck increases the amount of tail you have which makes manuals, shuvits, etc. a lot easier. I've only been skating for around a month and in the short amount of time i've had this board (about half a week) this board has helped me improve a lot. This board also seems to be very durable.
